動如脫兔 on a fast track 歲次癸卯，來到兔年，很多人絞盡腦汁，就想不出一些應景吉祥年話。也的確，兔子居食物鏈下方，只會大量繁殖，腳程快，花樣多，龜兔賽跑卻跑輸烏龜。 但凡事都有光明面，與其哀嘆「兔死狗烹」，不如洋人說：「漁夫最感念的莫過於他捕的魚」（The fisherman has most respect for the fish.），因為有魚兒，他才有生計。「兔起鶻落」可以代表高效率（like a clockwork），孫子也曾用「動如脫兔」（on a fast track）來形容身手矯健，絲毫沒有耽誤任務的遂行。 狡兔三窟 求生存 莫心存僥倖 換個角度，視界大不同。 我們說：「兔子不吃窩邊草」（Thou shall not covet thy neighbor's wife.），和「狡兔三窟」（walking on the fence），這都是牠求生本領；倒反是人類喜歡守株待兔，念念不忘先前的好運，殊不知機率極小（lightning does not strike in the same place twice）。心存僥倖，到頭來只會吃虧。 其實守株待兔也有積極面：愛爾蘭民間故事，說彩虹尾端有一桶金（pot of gold at the end of the rainbow）被小綠人守護，就像我國神話廣寒宮里的玉兔和吳剛。小綠人失神，偷金者眼明手快就可以如願。 賽局理論有個「捕鹿」會獵（stag hunt）：齊心合作，捕得巨鹿，足供大家飽食多日，但眼前跑過兔子，人會放棄合作，以捕得兔子供自己食用一餐。這兩種獵物都是最佳選擇，捕獵兔子並無過 失，只是所得甚小。因此，為長遠共同利益，就要發揚團隊精神，這是兔子在今年給我們的最佳啟示。 例："The fisherman has most respect for the fish because he relies on them for survival."「不殺魚，漁夫無以維生，因此漁夫十分感謝魚帶來的好處。」 " The project proceeded like clockwork for it takes many small, very precise steps to assure it is bullet proof."「事前規劃審慎，整個案子運作起來順暢無比。」 " The management has announced that the reforms will be put on the fast track."「公司高層宣布：將以最快速度推動改革。」 守株待兔 熬到底 贏面多幾分 "Joe's girlfriend left his house only 3 minutes before his other girlfriend arrived! Wow, he is really walking on the fence!"「老周女友才走不到三分鐘，另一個女友就出現他面前，哇，他可真會玩狡兔三窟的遊戲。」 "Because an event occurred once, it does not mean that the same event will occur again. Remember: 'lightning does not strike in the same place twice.'"「沒有人老是走運，別妄想守株待兔的蠢事了。」 "John has been waiting for the lottery drawings again today.
